Reform to 1546 + Reform to 1564 + Reform to 1622
In the period up until the death of John Knox we will survey the early phases of the Reformation in Scotland, the events leading to the First Book of Discipline and the securing of the Reformed church in Edinburgh in 1560, and some of the developments that take place in the remaining years of Knox's life.
It is a period marked by the colourful drama if not soap opera presented by Mary Queen of Scots and her court, but our purpose is not to sort out the affairs, murders and personalities surrounding her troubled life, but to see something of what was going on as a movement with lay leadership changed the vision of what it meant to be Christian in Scotland.
