Reform in Scotland to 1572

Reform to 1546 + Reform to 1564 + Reform to 1622

The period up until the death of John Knox in November 1572 tends to be dominated in history by court intrigues and the drama of Knox's sermons and the tears of Mary Queen of Scots, now with an infant James the future king of both Scotland and England.

It is a period marked by the colourful drama if not soap opera presented by Mary Queen of Scots and her court, but our purpose is not to sort out the affairs, murders and personalities surrounding her troubled life, but to see something of what was going on as a movement with significant lay leadership changed the vision of what it meant to be Christian in Scotland.
