John Roxborogh
I am a retired Presbyterian minister, writer and teacher with special interests in Asian Christianity and the history of Presby-terianism. I am an honorary fellow at the Department of Theology and Religion at the University of Otago. I am also involved in the Alliance Française de Dunedin and the Otago Phoenix Club.
My wife Jenny and I live in North East Valley, Dunedin, and enjoy being part of this community. We currently worship at Opoho Presbyterian Church and also at Portobello Presbyterian when we are out on the Otago Peninsula.
I have written on Christianity in Malaysia and on the rise of the missionary movement in Scotland, particularly as experienced through the life and ministry of Thomas Chalmers (Port Chalmers, Dunedin is named after him). With Stuart Piggin I wrote The St Andrews Seven, which was the story of Chalmers and six of his students in 1820s St Andrews Scotland who caught a vision for mission overseas.
Much of the information on this site was developed in connection with teaching at the School of Ministry (now the Knox Centre for Ministry and Leadership), and earlier at Laidlaw College in Auckland and before that at Seminary Theoloji Malaysia in Kuala Lumpur. There is also material on research methods and thesis writing.
